International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD) in cooperation with the Good Governance for Social Development and the Environment Institute (GSEI) and SEATRANET, organized a Regional Workshop on "FTA's Impacts on Developing Countries: the Asian Context". The workshop held at ITD (training division), Chamchuri Square building , Bangkok, on March 17, 2008.
Apart from workshop on FTA's Impacts on Developing Countries which focused on the impact of FTA on 4 essential issues by prominent researcher and following with comment by commentator and SEATRANET associate professor, Prof. Henry Gao from Singapore Management University highlight of the event was the public launching of SEATRANET in Bangkok, SEATRANET is the regional network of trade training institutions in South East Asia that committed to work together in delivery of trade policy training to government official and other stakeholders with ITD as a secretariat.
The SEATRANET Launching event is the first major publicity event for SEATRANET in Thailand which presented the shared commitments of SEATRANET member to genuine regional integration. The event had brought the oppurtunity of participants included potential donors, senior and high-level representatives from government agencies, academia, private sector, research institutes and NGOs various countries to . The number of particpants were around 50 participants.
