ITD arranges Trade and Development Regional Forum 2016
On 21 September 2016, Dr. Theerakiat Charoensetthasilp, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education opens Trade and Development Regional Forum 2016 at Dusit Thani Hotel Bangkok and Dr. Suphat Champathong, permanent secretary of Ministry of Education and the chairman of the executive board of International Institute for Trade and Development (Public Organization) gives speech to welcome. Dr. Kamalin Pinichphuwadol, a director of ITD and Dr. Diana Barrowlough, a representative from UNCTAD talk to introduce in the meeting.
Part 1, there is discussion of main issues from Nairobi Maafikiano’s statement which focuses on 4 main issues and guideline which UNCTAD is expected about assisting members to move forward and UNCTAD needs to be fair and have a part in environment world economy about trade and development. The speakers who are experts from UNCTAD and ASEAN attend in this meeting
Part 2, there is a discussion about “Viewpoints of Region : Responding of ASEAN to Nairobi’s agreement”. This topic is concerned about dynamic of ASEAN region which has different strategies of developing country from least developing country which do not connect to the sea to developed country. The process can assure the equal growth. The speakers which are experts from UNCTAD and ASEAN attend in this meeting.
Last part, there is a discussion about “Agreement of Big Trade: Opportunity or Risk for Multilateral Form”. The multilateral system of trading keeps growing. Pushing benefits of trade to be a sustainable development and being a part of activity are needed. The experts from UNCTAD and ASEAN attend in this meeting.
