Bangkok, Thailand – Mr. Manu Sithiprasasana, Executive Director of the International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD), along with his management team, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative of India to UNESCAP, and Mr. Dharmendra Singh, First Secretary (Economic & Commerce) and Head of Chancery. The meeting was held with the aim of strengthening the economic ties between India and Thailand.

During the meeting, Mr. Sithiprasasana expressed his gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Singh and Mr. Singh for their continued support in promoting economic relations between the two nations. The discussions primarily revolved around the various opportunities that exist for Indian businesses to invest in Thailand, as well as the potential for Thai companies to expand their operations in India.

The discussions also touched upon the importance of enhancing connectivity between the two countries. The ITD team highlighted some of the initiatives they have been working on, such as the Roundtable on BIMSTEC Post-Summit Progress and Way Ahead, held in Bangkok last year, and future relevant projects that aim to host an international seminar for all stakeholders to present and discuss various modalities to enhance overall economic performance in South Asia before the BIMSTEC Summit in Thailand. 

Ambassador Singh expressed his appreciation for the efforts being made by the ITD team in promoting economic cooperation between India and Thailand. He also emphasized the need for both countries to continue working closely together to enhance trade and investment.

Overall, the meeting was seen as a positive step towards strengthening the economic ties between India and Thailand, and both sides expressed a commitment to continuing their efforts towards this goal.
