Seminar on Building Greater Cooperation and Institutional Capacity for Skills Mobility

        On July 9, 2021, Seminar on Building Greater Cooperation and Institutional Capacity for Skills Mobility co-hosted by Human Resources Development Service of Korea (Ministry of Employment and Labor, Republic of Korea), International Institute for Trade and Development (Public Organization), International Organization for Migration, Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (Public Organization).

         Around 60 participants representing from government officials, private sector and experts from many countries in the Asia Pacific joined this virtual seminar. The welcome remarks consisted of four addresses from Ms. Géraldine Ansart, Chief of Mission, IOM Thailand, Mr. Myung-hoon Lee, Executive Director, Global Institute for Transferring Skills, HRD Korea, Mr. Noppadol Piyatrapoomi, Director General, TPQI and Mr. Manu Sithiprasasana, Executive Director, ITD.        

        The virtual seminar aims to cast light on why intra-regional mobility of skilled workforce is important to build a more competitive ASEAN and what benefits it will bring to the ASEAN member states and migrant workers themselves.  It will then present on progresses that have been made regionally and nationally with implications about workforce mobility, recognition of qualifications, and development of TVET systems.  The virtual seminar also aims to share recent developments, showcase cooperation successes, and also highlight opportunities for greater collaboration.
